Design show My art at the Weapons of Mass Creation Fest

Last week I received the incredible news that I had won a spot in the design show at the Weapons of Mass Creation festival – WMC Fest for short – which still makes me spin my hoops in excitement like a madman. My many thanks go out to all of you who supported me in achieving this, I appreciate it everyone! I also want to thank to good people from Go Media and Jeff Finley in particular for this opportunity and everything they’ve done so far.

Weapons of Mass Creation is like they personally state: “a grassroots event to inspire and enable the creative mind. It’s part conference, part concert, part design show, and part festival.” I would personally like to add: it’s awesome, it’s going to be epic and I have the fantastic privilege of being a part of it this year. Which makes it a real bummer that I cannot actually be present at the festival in person, but my art will be. (I will still be at OFFF in Barcelona at the same time the WMC Fest kicks off.)

The design show will be located at the Wall Eye Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio (USA). The fact that my prints will be exhibited overseas feels amazing. When I’d won a spot I figured it was a for a single printout to be hung there, but it turned out to be much more than that. I actually get to exhibit 3-6 pieces of my work which will also be put up for sale, plus I get to lay down a stack of business cards at the show. Perhaps you can imagine why winning this spot makes me so excited. It will hopefully give me some nice exposure amongst the audience of the event and perhaps even the performing bands, which would most ideal. Regardless of that this opportunity is absolutely fantastic and I am super stoked about it.

Weapons of Mass Creation is so much more than just the design show I’m talking about here, so be sure to check it out the website and awesome lineup of speakers, bands and other exhibiting designers. Creative festival – OFFSET 2012 Dublin

After some heavy pondering I finally decided to attend the OFFSET event in Dublin this March, a 3 days long creative event about art and design. The list of speakers is absolutely amazing so I just couldn’t miss out. There are a lot of speakers that will definitely have some inspiring and motivating talks. Here are some that I totally want to check out. (I’m just going to make this post something that I could’ve filed under ‘inspirational’ as well.)

Trends in cover art – CD covers and originality

I label myself as a designer for music, with a preference for cover art, so I figured it would be nice if I’d write more on-topic about that on my blog. After writing my previous post I thought: “It’s relevant and I like it, so why not write more about it?” So I’m just going to. I’ll try figuring out several approaches on how to write more about CD design and this is the first of a few subjects I will be delving into: trends in cover art.
