Looking back at the WMC Fest

The Weapons of Mass Creation festival was held a couple of days ago in Cleveland Ohio. The reason why I’m sharing that with you is because my work was – as you may know – exhibited in the design show there.

First I have to say that I could not personally be present at the fest, so unfortunately I cannot give you a detailed recap myself. I was at OFFF in Barcelona at the time the WMC fest started and I had that planned a long time before I knew my work would be in the design show. Anyway; after reading the official WMC Fest recap from the founder’s perspective I was bummed out even more that I could not be there because it looked totally awesome. Nonetheless I am so very proud that my work was exhibited at such an awesome event. My many thanks go out to the people of Go Media and Jeff Finley in particular for making this happen.

All I can tell you is what I have read for myself, so if you’re interested in reading more about the event you should just check out the founder’s recap by Jeff Finley. There are a bunch of other recaps from people who attended as well, those are listed on the WMC Fest website. I’d like to point out the one by Chris Hoenigmann because he was kind enough to take a shot of my work (the first one left further down this post) and link to my site. Call to arms – Back the WMC Festival by making a pledge

After being a part of this remarkable design and music festival with my artworks last year I’ve been following the WMC Fest closely. These guys know how to market themselves, but really: this year’s fest is looking so extremely awesome that this stuff just markets itself. It’s ridiculous, so let me tell you why you should absolutely visit it if you can.

Creative festival – OFFSET 2012 Dublin

After some heavy pondering I finally decided to attend the OFFSET event in Dublin this March, a 3 days long creative event about art and design. The list of speakers is absolutely amazing so I just couldn’t miss out. There are a lot of speakers that will definitely have some inspiring and motivating talks. Here are some that I totally want to check out. (I’m just going to make this post something that I could’ve filed under ‘inspirational’ as well.)

Trends in cover art – CD covers and originality

I label myself as a designer for music, with a preference for cover art, so I figured it would be nice if I’d write more on-topic about that on my blog. After writing my previous post I thought: “It’s relevant and I like it, so why not write more about it?” So I’m just going to. I’ll try figuring out several approaches on how to write more about CD design and this is the first of a few subjects I will be delving into: trends in cover art.
