Breaking down two new album art concepts – Part II

As I promised last week, here’s the build-up of the second CD design. If you missed part I then be sure to check that out first.

I created this second album art concept with the following in mind: more colorful, spacious and calm than the first. Yet still quite moody and with a twisted atmosphere. As with the first; I made the basis of this image in black and white. When the atmosphere and all that was feeling great and fitting I moved to the coloring process.

Instead of creating a very detailed image I focused more on realizing a great ambiance in this second CD design. "Metaphorically it says a huge amount, to be so brightly lit amongst a barren landscape. With the boy traversing in such a grand landscape and his radiance reflecting some kind of empowerment."
