I’m not someone who normally goes into hyper mode about these kind of things but this is one of the rare exceptions. Some of you may know that I’m a huge fan of Steven Wilson’s music and the man himself as an artist. So you can imagine how stoked I was about the official announcement of his new solo-album coming out. Another man who I think is a genius artist is Lasse Hoile, who’s a long-term collaborator responsible for all (or practically most of) the art for Steven Wilson. I find the duo simply remarkable for their art.
Quite a while back I noticed a teaser message about all this and today the official announcement hit me in the face and it’s spectacular. I already spammed my Twitter in excitement so I figured I’d just write a blog post about it as well. (I need a decent amount of characters for this.)

In short: I’ve been listening to the incredible music of Porcupine Tree for a couple of years now, they’re one of my absolute favorite bands. When their frontman Steven Wilson released his debut solo-album ‘Insurgentes’ I was absolutely blown away. That album was followed by documentary about Steven Wilson which was absolutely fascinating to watch. I think it’s safe to say that the album and documentary really shaped my opinion about music and art much more. Also, the incredible work of Lasse Hoile has always been a huge influence in terms of my personal ambitions as a designer.
Grace for Drowning
Like with Insurgentes the new Grace for Drowning album will come with massive amounts of fantastic artwork from Lasse Hoile. The deluxe book will be a hardback book which features 120 pages of artwork and notes, the double CD digibook edition will hold 28 pages. I say that; that’s just beyond awesome. Wilson describes it as his biggest project to date. I can’t wait to have and play this new double album with two 45-45 minute CD’s. Flipping through the art while listening to what will most likely be spectacular music.
